Intent
Why we teach this
- Every child can name what they feel, why, and what to do about it.
- Adults model self-awareness and self-management; children practise both.
- Emotion vocabulary is taught explicitly, not assumed.
Implementation
How it lands in classrooms
- CASEL five competencies frame our work: Self-awareness · Self-management · Social awareness · Relationship skills · Responsible decision-making.
- A.I.M. (the daily check-in routine: Awareness → Intention → Make-it-happen) opens every classroom.
- The Mood Meter (Storm / Sunshine / Cloud / Calm) gives shared language for inner weather.
- The L.I.F.E. PSHE programme provides the curriculum spine for explicit teaching.
