Intent
Why we teach this
- Every child experiences the five arts disciplines as a maker, performer and audience member.
- Artistic processes are taught explicitly — not just outputs, but the habits of an artist.
- Performance is part of the year — termly showcases bring the work into community view.
Implementation
How it lands in classrooms
- C.R.E.A.T.E. is the school’s integrated arts programme, with NCAS performance standards as the spine.
- Music Play Online is the music curriculum partner; Visual Arts content is school-authored against NCAS anchors.
- Each unit explicitly tags the four NCAS Artistic Processes: Creating · Performing/Presenting/Producing · Responding · Connecting.
Impact
What learners can do
- By UKG, children sing in tune, move expressively and make marks with intent.
- By Grade 2, children play simple rhythms, perform a short scene, and discuss artworks with shared vocabulary.
- By Grade 5, children compose, choreograph, devise, design and reflect — across two or more disciplines per year.
