The R.E.A.D. strands
How we teach reading.
R.E.A.D. is organised into three arcs, each with structured routines that span the school week.
Decoding
Phonological and phonemic awareness, phonics and word study, fluency — orthographic recognition that lets children read any new word.
Comprehension
Literacy knowledge, read alouds and shared reading, vocabulary and morphology, syntax and grammar, and reasoning — understanding what they read, not just decoding it.
Reading to Learn
Engagement, appreciation, and discovery — the habit of reading for pleasure, for knowledge, and for the joy of a good story.

A 10,000-word vocabulary corpus, organised into Marzano clusters, with four teaching tools — Word Card, Frayer Model, Word Lab, and Moderation.
